Make Your Blog Work For You!

Why Choose a Full Partner Blog over a WordPress Blog?

A blog that is a fully integrated as part of your website can increase the overall visibility for your entire website.  With a Full Partner blog, your blog is fully integrated as a part of your website, not an afterthought or a detached website.

Our new blog SEO features such as pinging the search engines, and the Static SiteModel name (see below), your Full Partner blog offers a better solution. We have made use of the most up-to-date tools to make your blog 100% search engine visible and just as good or better than any of the detached blogs at getting listed in the blog search engines. Because of this, your blog pushes your website into higher search engine positions. Plus, your FP blog is easy to use with the same familiar tools used to edit your website.

Some Features of the Full Partner Blog Platform
  1. Pinging the Search Engines
  2. Static SiteModel Name
  3. About the Blog Console
  4. Blog TrackBack Links
  5. Blog FeedBurner Widget
  6. Other Features of Our Blog Platform

1. Pinging the Search Engines

Every time you update blog articles or create new, published articles, the following blog search engines are automatically notified. The settings for this have been added to the Basic Properties section of the Article Editor, at the bottom.

Sites Pinged Automatically When You Create or Change Blog Content

When blog articles are posted, a popup window will appear that does the actual search engine pinging. When it is finished a message showing all the search engines that were pinged will appear. It is important to not close this window until that message shows. In some cases it might be a full minute or longer depending on how busy the search engines are at the time.

2. Static SiteModel Name - Search Engine Optimization Enhancement

We heard from an SEO expert that he could recommend the Full Partner blog over WordPress if we had 2 more features:
  1. The page title should be the title of the blog article
  2. Every blog article should have its own static page with the page name composed of keywords taken from the title and the body of the article

It turns out, there are 3 documented areas that Google looks for keywords: URL, page title, and finally the Body of the content. We now have these enhancements in place with the Static SiteModel Name

The Static SiteModel Name is not really a site model, but instead it is a static folder on the server within which all the blog pages reside. So it is not only tidy from the perspective of managing server files, but it adds the possibility of putting one or more powerful keywords in the page URL.

To view the whole help text on creating your Static SiteModel name, view HERE

Now the Full Partner Integrated Blog is second to none and has the advantage over all 3rd party blogs like Wordpress of being fully integrated into the website.

3. About the Blog Console

Our Blog Console puts everything you need for blog management at your fingertips:

  1. Position of the console has been detached from the Body Center Column so that it can be free to expand and roam (mouse down on the console and you can drag it around).
  2. Two rows of functionality now - the top row is for Articles and the bottom row gives access to blog comments
  3. On the Articles row, see the 2 added buttons [Stats] and [Setup]
    o Stats opens Google Analytics
o Setup opens a setup dialog to allow setting things like inline comments, the unpublished articles query ID, email address for comments notification and Blog Stats tracking code and URL. The Help button provides guidance for each option, and in particular for Google stats, how to setup the account, etc.
  4. On the Comments row, you can select comments to edit or delete.

For our clients: If you wish to use the Stats and Setup feature, please email Ted at ted.nevels@fullpartner.com to turn these features on for your site. Ted will respond with an email that gives details on how to setup stats and  will also explain about how to setup the unpublished articles query.

4. Blog TrackBack Links

TrackBacks are a way of recording who has linked to your posts and notifying others that you have linked to them. Suppose you wrote an article in your Full Partner based site. Another weblogger read the piece and posted a link to it on her weblog along with some related comments.

Here is where trackback enters: in addition to linking to your article, she could ping it. That way, you and your readers would know that another person wrote something about the topic of your posting. Then, trackback, in addition to traditional HTML linking, is another way of communication between weblogs.

At the bottom of all of your blog articles, above Comments, is a section that looks like this:

TrackBack
TrackBack URL for this entry:
http://www.yourdomainname.com/trackback.cfm?ID=456

So when other bloggers link to your blog, it is posted in your TrackBack section, and other bloggers who want to post a TrackBack can see your article's TrackBack link here as well.

To implement a TrackBack link to another blog's article that you have referenced is easy:

  1. Find the TrackBack link for the other blog's article and paste it into the first open field in the TrackBack Links section of our blog article. (this is just below the SEO Page Name near the bottom of the Article Editor)
  2. Publish your blog article by setting the Status to (1) Published and click OK or Save. When the blog search engines are pinged, any TrackBacks will also be pinged.
The other side - when someone sends a TrackBack ping to your blog - is all automatic. When you get pings, the system will record them and display them in the TrackBack section of your blog articles.

5. Blog FeedBurner Widget

Our great Full Partner integrated blog just got better with the addition of the FeedBurner widget.  In addition to standard RSS you can now add your www.FeedBurner.com account link to your blog and provide optimized RSS distribution for all of the major directories and your blog content can be easily consumed by subscribers wherever they are.

The icon for this service is called the "universal feed icon" and looks like this  . Here is a link on Google that describes this in detail. With this service subscribers can use the following web-based news readers.

It is easy to subscribe to your blog using FeedBurner and you get free RSS stats to learn how many subscribers you have, where they are coming from and what they like best. Open your account at FeedBurner then paste in your FeedBurner Link into your Blog Setup dialog. Then select the icon you wish to use and contact support@fullpartner.com to add the FeedBurner widget to your blog.

This widget lists your categories with a link to a page that displays all the articles assigned to the category, (a service that is commonly placed in the right or left column. It draws content from the keywords under the main Keyword category named "Blog Categories")
  • By Author - have multiple authors for your blog and show a list of the authors with a link to a page that displays the articles written by that author (a service that is commonly placed in the right or left column.)
  • Recent Posts - the last 10 posts are linked for easy reference (a service that is commonly placed in the right or left column.)
  • Recent Comments - the last 10 comments (on all blog articles together) are linked for easy reference (a service that is commonly placed in the right or left column.)

  • Archives - this is a page of all your blog article titles, organized by date and linked to the full article (add a query of blog articles, sorted in reverse date written order and display with Title Medium display method.)
  • Teasers - if you write long blog articles, then you will want to show just the first 2 or 3 paragraphs with a link to more (switch to Advanced Properties in the Article Editor to compose the Teaser. Use the vBlog Article Display Method for Teaser to display the content and set the Default Location to the main blog page using the vBlog Article Body display method)
  • Spam Screeneing - Comments that are posted to your blog are automatically screened for spam by Akismet so that only the real comments are posted. This feature alone will save you many hours of work deleting spam from a popular blog.
