Full Partner Critical Global DNS System

DNS is an abbreviation for Domain Name System and is the essential fabric that holds the internet together. Web servers, email servers, FTP servers, media servers and other public IP networks all exist and are accessible using DNS.  Every day millions of people around the world visit these servers by typing in the domain names. And each time they do, a critical and time-sensitive process begins behind the scenes.

Because DNS is the essential first link in an entire chain of Internet connectivity, companies should consider DNS more important even than their web sites, yet many don't. Most companies will spend considerable resources on multiple web servers, databases, redundancy and clustering, but sit back satisfied with two low-end DNS servers hosted by their ISP on the same subnet.

A robust DNS Service is critical to the success of every online business. As enterprises increasingly depend on the Internet to generate revenues and cost savings, the importance of their DNS infrastructure and its potential as a single point of failure also increases.

The Full Partner Critical Global DNS System helps companies completely eliminate downtime due to DNS outages, DOS attacks, local disasters and other catastrophic events by utilizing our globally redundant DNS network. Our DNS service network is monitored 24/7/365 to ensure 100% DNS uptime and speedy resolution of your domains.

Here are a few reasons to choose Full Partner Critical Global DNS:

  • Intelligently-routed bandwidth combines connectivity from over 20 diverse providers including Verio, Level(3), AOL / Time Warner, BTN, and many more. Failure of any single provider or multiple providers at once has no effect on the uptime of our network. Border Gateway Protocol 4 (BGP4) is incorporated to insure continuous uptime.
  • Intelligent routing equipment reduces latency by allowing incoming and outgoing packets to take the shortest, most efficient path -- this means that our network is optimized for low-latency applications such as DNS.
  • Fully redundant, no single point of failure.
  • Proprietary, secure non-BIND software
  • 24/7/365 DNS monitoring and management

Through a state-of-the-art web based management system, Full Partner System Engineers can administer DNS in real-time. Changes made are immediately propagated to all of our globally positioned DNS datacenters. This diversity ensures that even if there were significant disruption to large portions of the Internet, your DNS would still resolve.

DNS Failover Service with IP Anycast Routing

Full Partner's Critical Global DNS Service features a fully automatic DNS based failover solution that ensures your company's website is always available.  We monitor your mission critical servers from five geographically disperse points. If 4 of the 5 points agree that your server is unavailable, it will automatically adjust your DNS to eliminate the unavailable server from the zone file and reroute traffic to an alternate standby server at a different datacenter.

This unique methodology ensures that your website is always available, 100% of the time.

IP Anycast Routing is also a part of the Full Partner Critical Global DNS Service and is an industry best practice to give servers the highest possible uptime. This routing will give our DNS servers the highest amount of uptime worldwide. IP Anycast Routing is what the largest web sites in the world use so that they are always online (e.g., Google, Yahoo, Ebay, Amazon, etc.).

IP Anycast Routing gives load balanced and mirrored systems increased reliability, decreased latency, and a true distributed response to DoS. The best part is that all of this is transparent to the end user. By having multiple networks dynamically respond to the same IP, there is increased performance and uptime.

Here is a normal DNS network without IP Anycast.

This picture shows name servers that are geographically distributed. This is the minimum that your DNS provider should do. The truth is that most DNS providers do not even do this. Most DNS providers put all of their servers in the exact same city and some DNS providers are in the exact same facility!

Now let's assume that a natural disaster made 2 or 3 cities no longer reachable. Here is what your DNS network will look like now. Note that DNS resolution will now be forced to only 2 cities. It will take longer for your DNS to resolve as systems will be down and the remaining name servers may get flooded / overloaded.

Here is how the Full Partner Critical Global DNS System Network works with IP Anycast Routing.

Note that multiple cities will be responding to the exact same IP (same name server). This provides a decrease in latency because you will be connecting to the location closest to you (in regards to network latency). This also helps distribute any DoS because numerous cities will be responding to the exact same IP (name server).

Now in the worst case that a natural disaster has occurred and a couple cities are no longer available your DNS network will not be affected as you still have cities responding to the same IP (name server). This gives you the best possible protection against any problem (network / natural disaster / DoS / etc.).

Full Partner Datacenters for Web and Database Servers

Full Partner web servers and database servers are located at 2 geographically separated datacenters (Delaware and Texas) to insure that your mission critical website is always online.  These datacenters connect our servers to the Internet through 6 different Tier 1 connectivity providers on a multi-homed, redundant network featuring Gigabit and OCx Internet connections ensuring that your website will always remain online and accessible.

We utilize a redundant routing architecture including hardware failover and Cisco HSRP (Hot Spare Router Protocol). In addition, all servers have hot swappable disk drives and power supplies and the disk drives are RAID 1 mirrored.

Your Full Partner powered website is hosted on at least 2 servers at 2 geographically separated datacenters. The primary server is constantly monitored and if it every goes down, all traffic is quickly diverted to the identical website that is always running on the backup server at the other datacenter.  During times of extremely heavy traffic, the backup server will be brought online with the primary server and the Full Partner Global Critical DNS System will then start to automatically load-balance traffic between the two servers

The Full Partner Technology is infinitely scalable and can handle any amount of traffic via a cluster of load-balanced servers. The datacenter and server farm configurations are designed to optimize the Full Partner Technology advantage through a load-balanced environment with 1-gigabit LAN connections between all servers.

As your business grows and more bandwidth is required, your website will be upgraded to the load-balanced cluster so there will be no degradation in performance.  Any number of servers can be added to the cluster to support even the busiest website.
